Produced by Jim Albritton | Like so many things, Good Neighbor Day started in Mississippi and spread around the world. In 1994, the late Brook Jacobs Sr, a florist and owner of Greenbrook Flowers in Jackson, had a simple idea that caught on and blossomed quickly. Participants receive a dozen free roses. They're asked to keep one and pass the other 11 on to friends, family or total strangers.
Today, 20 years later, on the 12th anniversary of 9/11, Good Neighbor Day is as big as ever and has evolved into a way to support Batson Children's Hospital. Various items are raffled and donations are accepted on behalf of the Mississippi's only children's hospital.
