McComb, Mississippi marked the 100th anniversary of its City Hall on May 10, 2014 with a celebration led by Mayor Whitney Rawlings that featured several of the city's past mayors and the Jubilee Performing Arts Center Choir. The ceremony commemorated the 1914 laying of the building's cornerstone. A fire in 1904 destroyed the original building. McComb was founded in 1872 by Henry Simpson McComb, the president of the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern Railroad. As one of the nation's few company-built towns, it was planned and created to house the railroad's maintenance shops which were located in New Orleans.
