After a cross-country farewell flight in October 2012, the Space Shuttle Endeavour is at its new home, the California Science Center in Los Angeles. The orbiter is housed in a temporary pavilion until its new exhibit space is built nearby. Guests who come to see Endeavour will view images and artifacts that relate the shuttle program to California, where the orbiters were built. The Mize, Mississippi girl toured the base, learned how pilots train and was honored at every stop by airmen and staff at the Columbus, Mississippi base. She is the second Batson patient to participate in the day-long program.

Stennis Space Center to bid farewell to the Space Shuttle Endeavour as it passed 1,500 feet overhead, atop a modified 747, headed for its new home at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. This final flight, which marks the end of NASA's shuttle program, also highlights the crucial role Stennis has held for more than 30 years. Produced by Jim Albritton | Multiple Mississippi state agencies set up a base camp in Yazoo City to respond to flooding caused by the Mississippi River and its tributaries including the Yazoo River. Working together, agencies used the flood as a backdrop for training exercises. The State Medical Assistance Team (SMAT) set up Mississippi MED-1, a field hospital. SMAT is a joint operation of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Mississippi State Department of Health.

The crew and hospital staff gathered atop the Wallace Conerly Hospital for Critical Care for tours of the new chopper which is based at UMMC in Jackson. Produced by Jim Albritton | The Adams County Sheriff's Department and others rescued a balloon and crew stranded in the middle of the Mississippi River during the "barge drop" competition in the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race on October 16, 2010. Despite his difficulties on this day, Tom Oberheide, the balloon's pilot, went on to place first in the race. The barge drop isn't counted as part of the overall race.
