Despite his difficulties on this day, Tom Oberheide, the balloon's pilot, went on to place first in the race. The barge drop isn't counted as part of the overall race. The annual September event gives the kids and their families the opportunity to catch fish, barbecue and enjoy the water slide at the park. Camp Rainbow is a summer camp for kids with cancer held each June.
